The USGenWeb
Project consists of a group of volunteers working
together to provide Internet websites for genealogical
research in every county and every state of the United
States. The Project is non-commercial and fully
committed to free access for everyone.
Organization
is by county and state, and this website provides you
with links to all the state websites which, in turn,
provide gateways to the counties. The USGenWeb Project
also sponsors important Special Projects at the national
level and this website provides an entry point to all of
those pages, as well.
Although the
basic unit of organization for The USGenWeb Project is
at the county level, State Websites include very
important information as well, including such resources
for postings of unknown county queries, family reunion
bulletin boards, state histories, and maps showing the
changing county boundaries, among others. Many states
also have ongoing projects as diverse as the
transcription of Civil War regiments or the reuniting of
families with lost photos, bibles, etc.
As you explore
the state and county websites, you will see considerable
variation as each page or database is the creation,
property and responsibility of an individual volunteer.
But, you will also find that all of the counties will
provide links for you to post queries, access the
state's home page and access the archives. All of the
volunteers who make up The USGenWeb Project are very
proud of this endeavor and hope that you will find their
hard work both beneficial and rewarding.
The goal of
the USGenWeb Project is to make genealogical information
available online. These are stored at the
USGenWeb
Archives. You can view the files for Montana at
the
MTGenWeb
Archives.

About the AHGP
We are a group
of independent webmasters who link together to share
Historical and Genealogical data with researchers in a
peaceful and harmonious setting.
AHGP is
structured very differently from other online Genealogy
and History organizations. We have very few rules or
restrictions and believe in providing our members with
many choices and options in every aspect of membership,
thus eliminating the in-fighting prevalent in other
groups.
Each site or topic page is an independent linking site.
There is no limit to the number of member sites per
state, county, topic, etc. Linking to other member sites
is encouraged, but it is not required. For example,
county sites are not required to link through a state
site, and state sites are not forced to link any given
county site. All members also have the option of linking
directly to our main pages.
ALHN
A central
point of entry to independent web sites with historical
or genealogical content.
Our dream is to furnish you, the researcher, with the
historical and genealogical information to round out
your research on your ancestors.
ALHN will be adding
links and data in a continuous fashion. All
contributions are gratefully accepted and the copyright
for that information will continue to reside with the
contributor. There are no "strings" attached to any
contribution, you may take it back at anytime although
it is our hope that you will not do so.
ALHN is not doing this to compete nor replace any other
historical or genealogical organization, rather this is
in addition to those worthwhile organizations.
How
You can Help
This site was
designed to help researchers like you. In order to make
this site beneficial to the most people, we need
everyone to share their information. After all, the only
way people can help you, is if you let them know what
you are looking for. Here's how you can help us help
you, and how:
 |
Review
the queries - see if someone is researching the
same surname. |
 |
Submit
your query - tell other researchers what you are
looking for. |

Share
your resources - If you have a book or data base
that your willing to look in for others,
email me, and I will
list you on the look ups page.
|
 |
Submit
your family group sheets
|
 |
Share
your knowledge - If you are a local historian or
history buff, you could be a great help.
Consider submitting
